Micah's 3rd birthday/Love Day

I can't believe Micah just turned 3! I thought time flew by before children.......but WOW,,,, it just feels like yesterday that she was a baby! Raising Micah is a joy, of course there have been some rough spots (like the one we are in now:) however, she brings soo much love and happiness to our family! Micah loves having her picture taken so Ryan thought it would be cool to build a photobooth! HA of course we would have that at a 3 year old's party. It was a HUGE hit among the kids, but I think the adults loved it even more. We caught more than one couple sneak away for a little smooching session.:) Check out some of the fun. xox

Why am I surprised??
San Francisco weighs decriminalizing prostitution
By EVELYN NIEVES – 2 days ago
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — In this live-and-let-live town, where medical marijuana clubs do business next to grocery stores and an annual fair celebrates sadomasochism, prostitutes could soon walk the streets without fear of arrest.
San Francisco would become the first major U.S. city to decriminalize prostitution if voters next month approve Proposition K — a measure that forbids local authorities from investigating, arresting or prosecuting anyone for selling sex.
The ballot question technically would not legalize prostitution since state law still prohibits it, but the measure would eliminate the power of local law enforcement officials to go after prostitutes.
Proponents say the measure will free up $11 million the police spend each year arresting prostitutes and allow them to form collectives.
"It will allow workers to organize for our rights and for our safety," said Patricia West, 22, who said she has been selling sex for about a year by placing ads on the Internet. She moved to San Francisco in May from Texas to work on Proposition K.
Even in tolerant San Francisco — where the sadomasochism fair draws thousands of tourists and a pornographic video company is housed in a former armory — the measure faces an uphill battle, with much of the political establishment opposing it.
Some form of prostitution is already legal in two states. Brothels are allowed in rural counties in Nevada. And Rhode Island permits the sale of sex behind closed doors between consulting adults, but it prohibits street prostitution and brothels.
In 2004, almost two-thirds of voters in nearby Berkeley rejected decriminalization. But proponents of Proposition K say their proposal has a better shot in San Francisco, which they believe is more sexually liberal than the city across the bay.
After all, the world's oldest profession has long been established here. During the Gold Rush, the neighborhood closest to the piers was a seedy pleasure center of sex, gambling and drinking known as the Barbary Coast.
These days, on certain corners, prostitutes sell their bodies day and night, ducking into doorways and alleys when police pass by. One recent afternoon in the Mission District, six prostitutes were plying their trade on a single block.
Police made 1,583 prostitution arrests in 2007 and expect to make a similar number this year. But the district attorney's office says most defendants are fined, placed in diversion programs or both. Fewer than 5 percent get prosecuted for solicitation, which is a misdemeanor punishable by up to six months in jail.
Proposition K has been endorsed by the local Democratic Party. But the mayor, district attorney, police department and much of the business community oppose the idea, contending it would increase street prostitution, allow pimps the run of neighborhoods and hamper the fight against sex trafficking, which would remain illegal because it involves forcing people into the sex trade.
The San Francisco Chronicle editorialized against the measure, saying it could make the city a magnet for prostitution.
If the proposal passes, "we wouldn't be able to investigate prostitution, and it's going to be pretty difficult for us to locate these folks who are victims of trafficking otherwise," said Capt. Al Pardini, head of the police department's vice unit. "It's pretty rare that we get a call that says: 'I'm a victim of human trafficking' or 'I suspect human trafficking in my neighborhood.'"
The proposition would also prohibit police from accepting federal or state funds for sex trafficking investigations that involve racial profiling. Such investigations often arise from raids on brothels that advertise as Asian massage parlors.
"We feel that repressive policies don't help trafficking victims, and that human rights-based approaches, including decriminalization, are actually more effective," said Carol Leigh, co-founder of the Bay Area Sex Workers Advocacy Network and a longtime advocate for prostitutes' rights.
But San Francisco District Attorney Kamala Harris said the ballot question mistakenly assumes prostitution is a victimless crime.
"The crime of prostitution does not exist by itself," Harris said. "Along with it come pimps, johns and other crimes that really impact the safety of neighborhoods."
If the measure passes, supporters say, prostitutes would not feel the need for pimps as protection. But opponents insist it would embolden pimps who trap drug addicts into prostitution by plying them with drugs.
"The proponents usually paint a fairly rosy picture of two consenting adults and a monetary exchange at the end," Pardini said. "They don't factor in the people that are being exploited and people that are being controlled, the ones manipulated both physically and chemically."

Shoe craze
Funny how....
Funny how things work out. Never thought when we moved out of our first home we purchased in 2002 would we be moving back in, this time with my little girl. It's only a 2br 1 bath (yes, I said 1 bath). very quaint little home. When we lived there 4 years ago, we were in the middle of some of the most intense invasive infertility treatment. Desperation, Fear, Loneliness and Hopelessness surrounded me in this house. There was this one night that I remember. My dr. had called said nothing took and I again felt let down and was left questioning God. I sat in the 2nd bedroom and just cried my eyes out thinking I'll never know what it's like to have a crib in this room. I'll never be able to fall asleep in the room RIGHT next door knowing that should my child have a bad dream, I can be there in a second at their side. The closet was empty and always would be was my fear. I could go on and on, but most of you know our story already. So,
long sob story short,, here we are 3 and a half years later with our beautiful daughter moving back in to our charming little home. but no crib and I'm okay with that right now. :)
Also, we decided there was quite a bit that needed to be made over, so I've been taking before and after pictures as things get done........

Happy Birthday USA

July 4,, seriously one of my favorite days. I forget often how frekin blessed I am to live in America and able to enjoy what it has to offer! We as we do every year went to Elk Grove Park with all the family to watch fireworks.. Danette made all the girls patriotic skirts this year and Micah paraded around in hers very proud!!!!! and thanks to my husband, we have pre-show entertainment. We usually get seats right at the gate, smack dab underneath the fireworks.... Omg this year, it's like they were going to burn us as they fell! It felt like we could almost touch them. They had the Lee Greenwood song playing, "Proud to be an American" during the fireworks and I became soooooo emotional. The tears were fallin and I thought my heart was going to explode with happiness!! Everybody was clapping, people were shouting, I could hear whistles.. I just have never been more proud to be an American than that night!
Thank you to all who have served our country in uniform, especially those in my life. Dad, Richie, Jeff and of course my husband-thank you for all your sacrifices! You are loved (yes, even you dad) :)
If tomorrow all the things were gone,
I’d worked for all my life.
And I had to start again,
with just my children and my wife.
I’d thank my lucky stars,
to be livin here today.
‘ Cause the flag still stands for freedom,
and they can’t take that away.
And I’m proud to be an American,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.
And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘ Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.
From the lakes of Minnesota,
to the hills of Tennessee.
Across the plains of Texas,
From sea to shining sea.
From Detroit down to Houston,
and New York to L.A.
Well there's pride in every American heart,
and its time we stand and say.
That I’m proud to be an American,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.
And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘ Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.
And I’m proud to be and American,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.
And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘ Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.

She won....today
| So I walk into my daughter's room today to check on her supposed to be nappin cute little self. Instead, she was sitting not on, but inside her top dresser!! Oh and did I mention this little fight over taking a nap had been going on for about a hour at this time. So, she's inside her dresser totally all decked out in her seasonal fashions. She has her cute little bikini bottoms at her ankles and wraped around her neck are her pink snow bibs. Oh and on her head is her fuzzy pink tierra. |
Off 2 the zoo
Me and my big 6-wheeler
K, i'm feeling very very frustrated, but before you get involved,, probably only moms or those that have to push around a hugo stroller around would understand. So, picture this..... Micah and I are at the mall,,,about a 3 time a week event lately. I go into Gymboree, love that store and first of all I knock over a maniquein flat on her face and it makes the loudest noise....did I mention the maniquein was right in the center of a 2 foot aisle...... Do they really expect us and our gigantic strollers to get down an aisle.... I'm trying to push through and all kinds of things were falling off the racks, etc...It takes alot to embarass me,, but this kinda did it.. Just because everybody is looking at me strange,, as if my stroller is the biggest in California.. last time I checked it was a normal size. So my point is if anybody reading this knows anybody in management in a children's store,, please tell them to widen their store and give us moms with supposedly enormous strollers room to shop.....xoxooxo peace out.

His Grace is Enough
His grace is enough!!!!!! How Great is Our God.. These songs have never been more true in my life than they are today. God worked a miracle and Micah is back home in our arms. God-YOU ROCK!!!! How could anybody deny His power and love and grace and mercy? He's incredible and I'm in awe.
This is the happiest day of our life, talking of daddy and
I can't type anymore, because I just want to lie next to you and feel you breathe and watch you sleep. I love you precious baby! We give you to God and trust Him and His will for your Life!!!!!!xoxoxoxo Sweet dreams
